Jets the worst in fantasy football?
By DAN BILICKI, QMI Agency
There's an interesting little side story to the fact that Santonio Holmes is out for the season after being put on the IR with a foot injury: Are the Jets the worst team in fantasy football? Their starting receivers this weekend could be Jeremy Kerley and Jason Hill -- who just walked in off the street. Mark Sanchez is a wreck of a fantasy player and Tim Tebow gets maybe three or four carries per game. Usually the saviour of a team like this with a poor passing attack is that their running back thrives. Not so with Shonn Greene, who is barely holding the starting role over Bilal Powell -- who hasn't looked great either. It's a pretty sad state when terrible offences such as Cleveland and Jacksonville both have more viable fantasy players than you do. Other fantasy tidbits:
STAT CORNER Ryan Tannehill's 431 passing yards in Arizona were the most that a rookie has thrown in a road game. PICKUP OF THE WEEK Brian Hartline, WR, MIA Do you know what happens when you put up a club-record 253 receiving yards against a good defence? You see your ownership in fantasy football jump by about 50%. Thanks to his massive day in Arizona, Hartline leads the league in receiving yards. There is still some concern about having Ryan Tannehill as his QB, but Hartline is still a great add. DROP OF THE WEEK Santonio Holmes, WR, NYJ With Holmes out for the season, it's a very good time to drop him. He wasn't having a great season anyway in the Jets circus, scoring just once in four weeks. With the Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow debate still raging, even if Holmes returned, the Jets still would have been a mess. WAIVER DEFENCE OF THE WEEK St. Louis Rams Upset that they already have played? Well you should follow me on Twitter (@danbilicki) where I dispatch such advice for the Thursday tilt. If you did pick up the Rams, you got a cool 18 points from a team that allowed only three against the Cardinals. You could potentially stick with them next week too, with the Rams visiting the Dolphins. SIT OR START SIT Andrew Luck, QB, IND vs. GB Despite their average record, the Pack are only allowing around 200 yards per game. START Andy Dalton, QB, CIN vs. MIA The Dolphins have one of the worst pass defences in the league and Dalton has shown he can throw. START Torrey Smith, WR, BAL at KC The Chiefs have allowed the second-most passing touchdowns this season. SIT Chris Johnson, RB, TEN at MIN There won't be as much garbage time this week and faces a tough defence. SIT BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, CIN vs. MIA The Dolphins are allowing a mere 2.4 yards per carry. SIT Fred Jackson & C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF at SF Even if they were healthy, I wouldn't start them down by the Bay. START Jackie Battle, RB, SD at NO Even if he splits carries, the Saints have allowed the most points to fantasy RBs this season. SIT Jeremy Maclin, WR, PHI at PIT Only had one catch last week while suffering through a hip injury. START Domenik Hixon, WR, NYG vs. CLE He's starting and the Browns have allowed the second most fantasy points to receivers. START Martellus Bennett, TE, NYG vs. CLE Should figure more into the passing game with injuries at WR.
