SEATTLE - Terrell Owens announced on his Twitter account that he’s been released by the Seattle Seahawks.
Owens, who signed a one-year contract with Seattle in early August, caught two passes for 41 yards over two preseason games with the Seahawks before the team parted ways with the six-time Pro Bowler on Sunday.
“I’m no longer a Seahawk,” Owens posted on his Twitter account. “I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I’m truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.”
Owens hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2010 season, when he caught 72 balls for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals. He tore his ACL in April 2011 and was unable to land a job last fall.
A former third-round pick of San Francisco back in 1996, Owens has totaled 1,078 receptions for 15,934 yards and 153 TDs in 219 games with the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bills and Bengals over 15 NFL seasons.
