Lions, Browns swap spots on schedule

As I used to be able to joke for years, Detroit Lions fans could plan their lives on Sundays quite easily.

You knew when you'd be watching the Lions play most weeks.

At 1 p..m. ET.

That's because most years they were so unattractive a team for Monday night, or any other night, or even for a marquee 4 p.m. kickoff, that they'd mostly kick it off at one o'clock. Almost every week.

Year after year.

Not anymore. The Lions play five primetime games in 2012. Amazing!

It appears they have a replacement, however, in that early-game purgatory -- the Cleveland Browns.

All eight Browns home games are early starts, all on Sunday.

And just like the Lions of old, the only games this coming season when the Browns don't kick it off early on Sunday is when they can't logistically do it.

Specifically, it's when the Browns play their one mandatory Thursday night game (Sept. 27 at Baltimore), and when they play their two road games out west (Dec. 2 at Oakland and Dec. 23 at Denver, both 4:05 p.m. EST starts).

If you know a devout Browns fan, be aware that he can't beg off from helping you build that rec room after 4 p.m. on most Sundays.

Just expect him to be in a grumpy mood.
