Ryan Leaf will remain in jail in Great Falls, Mont., for a maximum of 30 days as authorities in Montana communicate with those in Texas about the former quarterback’s probationary term in the latter state, the Great Falls Tribune reported.

Leaf was arrested Monday for the second time in less than three days on drug and burglary charges, and he had been held since then while officials in Great Falls and Randall County, Texas, exchange information regarding the recent arrests.

Leaf is on probation in Randall County, where he received a 10-year suspended sentence in 2010 on drug-related charges. Texas officials reportedly plan to revoke his suspended sentence. But that hearing is not likely to take place until after the charges in Great Falls have been resolved.

Leaf was taken into custody Friday on charges stemming from a month-long investigation by a Montana drug task force into suspicious packages Leaf allegedly received from Florida. Leaf was freed on $76,000 bond but then was arrested again Monday on charges of burglary, theft and possession of a dangerous drug from an incident that allegedly took place Sunday in Great Falls.
