If Peyton Manning were to somehow wind up with the New York Jets, his brother Eli wouldn’t mind or at least is willing to make light of it.

The Giants quarterback told a New York radio station on Monday such a move could be beneficial and bring new meaning to the expression “brotherly love”.

“It would be fun,” Eli told WEPN-AM. “We could probably commute to work maybe, and, you know, come home, eat dinner together and have the kids be playing ... twin beds ... we could share notes on opponents and watch some film together.”

It almost sounds like the terrific ESPN commercial in which the pair tease and tweak each other, under the watchful eye of their father/former NFL quarterback Archie, during a visit to the network’s Bristol studios.

The pair working in the same city seems unlikely, however, as the Colts control the situation and would likely only move Peyton Manning if he were to become a disgruntled quarterback and/or publicly asked to be dealt.

If the Jets were to acquire Peyton Manning they would also create a mess behind center with the appearance they have given up on Mark Sanchez at quarterback.

Eli Manning wouldn’t speculate on his older brother’s situation, except to say that if Peyton were to wind up with the Jets they wouldn’t be spending quantity time together in the ’Big Apple’, at least during the season.

“...I don’t think we would see each other that often, just ’cause I don’t think our schedules would be a whole lot different, probably just talk on the phone more than see each other during the season, but, you know, it would be interesting,” Manning told the ESPN affiilate. “I’m not saying it’s gonna happen or I want it to happen, but to have your brother that close to you and playing in New York would be very unique.”

And the comparisons would come more often with both Mannings in the pro sports crazy town of New York. For example, each has won one Super Bowl, though Eli Manning is leading the Giants to another possible title run this season.

Here’s another: Eli Manning is coming off arguably his best regular season by passing for 4,933 yards and 29 touchdowns to 16 interceptions. He threw nine fewer picks than his bloated 25-interception campaign of 2010.

Although Peyton Manning had to sit out 2010 as he recovers from neck surgery, he’s had several great seasons, including 2010 in which he completed 450 of 679 passes for a 66.3 completion rate while throwing for 4,700 yards and 33 touchdowns to 17 interceptions.
