WASHINGTON -- The NFL is apparently set to begin testing for human growth hormone in the very near future.

Officials for the NFL, led by commissioner Roger Goodell, and the NFL Players Association were in Washington, D.C. on Friday to meet with members of Congress to discuss the league's plan to start testing for the performance-enhancing substance.

NFL public relations spokesman Greg Aiello wrote on his Twitter account Friday that Goodell said "HGH testing ready to go 7-10 days."

The NFL and the NFLPA agreed to blood testing for HGH as part of the new collective bargaining agreement struck this summer. However, the union would only agree to testing once a reliable method was developed.
