ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions signed veteran running backs Mike Bell and Jerome Harrison on Tuesday.

The moves come a day after rookie ball carrier Mikel Leshoure was lost for the season with a torn Achilles.

Bell spent the first five games of the 2010 campaign with the Eagles before being traded to the Browns for Harrison.

Originally signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2006, Bell has amassed 1,475 rushing and 14 touchdowns in 53 career games with the Broncos, Saints, Eagles and Browns. He was a member of New Orleans' Super Bowl championship team in 2009.

Harrison, who was selected by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL draft, ran for 330 yards and a touchdown last season as a member of the Browns and Eagles.

He has rushed for 1,640 yards and seven touchdowns in 59 career games.

The Lions selected Leshoure in the second round (57th overall) of April's draft. He ran for 2,557 yards and 23 touchdowns while starting 17 of 33 games at Illinois. He also caught 37 passes for 439 yards and five scores.
