GEORGETOWN, KY. - The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed running back Cedric Benson on Sunday.

Benson's agent confirmed the one-year deal, according to the official website of the Bengals.

The 28-year-old has rushed for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, and started all 16 games last year for the first time in his career. He rushed for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010.

The Texas product had the best year of his career in 2009, rushing for 1,251 yards and six touchdowns.

Originally selected by the Bears with the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, Benson has rushed for 4,702 yards and 25 touchdowns over 76 career games with the Bears (2005-07) and Bengals (2008-10).

Benson has had his share of run-ins with the law, most recently an arrest for misdemeanor assault in July.
