MINNEAPOLIS - Veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb will be wearing a different uniform for the third straight year.

McNabb, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, has reportedly agreed to a deal that will make him a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

The trade between Minnesota and Washington reportedly sends a 2012 sixth-round pick and conditional sixth-rounder in 2013 to the Redskins.

Standing in the way of the deal was McNabb's current contract. The Syracuse product was set to make $12.5 million, including a roster bonus, with Washington this season.

The Vikings will tear up the five-year, $78 million contract that McNabb signed last season and give him a much-less lucrative, short-term deal.

McNabb has agreed to take less money, and ESPN reported Wednesday night the deal would be official on Thursday.

After spending the first 11 years of his career in Philadelphia, McNabb was traded to Washington last April.

McNabb, who helped the Eagles to five NFC Championship games and Super Bowl XXXIX, struggled with the Redskins in 2010. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder completed 275-of-472 passes for 3,377 yards, 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 13 games. Not to mention, the 34-year-old was benched twice.

Minnesota, which went 6-10 last season, was in need of a starting quarterback after Brett Favre called it a career again.

The Vikings selected QB Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick in this year's draft. Billed as the most NFL-ready quarterback in the 2011 class, Ponder seems poised to compete for the starting job.

"Excited to have McNabb join," Ponder said on his official Twitter account. "Will learn a lot from a Pro Bowler. But that doesn't mean I'm not still fighting to start week 1!"

Over 161 career games, McNabb has completed 3,076 passes for 36,250 yards, 230 touchdowns and 115 interceptions.
