BUFFALO -- The Buffalo Bills and quarterback Tyler Thigpen have reportedly agreed to a contract.

The Buffalo News quoted Thigpen's agent in its report Wednesday.

Thigpen spent last season with Miami and has also played for Kansas City in four NFL seasons. He started 11 games for the Chiefs in 2008, when current Bills head coach Chan Gailey was his offensive coordinator.

During his extended play with the Chiefs in 2008, which included three other games off the bench, Thigpen completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was just 1-10 as a starter for a team that finished 2-14.

The 27-year-old Coastal Carolina product started one game and played in four others for the Dolphins last season, throwing for 435 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Thigpen is expected to begin camp as the backup to 2010 starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, who set career bests with 3,000 passing yards and 23 touchdown throws for Buffalo last season.
