Pro Football Hall of Famer Andy Robustelli has died. He was 85 years old.
The Stamford Advocate reported Robustelli died Tuesday morning. He was born in the Connecticut town and lived there following a 14-year pro football career with the Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants.
Robustelli was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection at defensive end in a career that spanned 1951-64. He played his first five years with the Rams, winning an NFL championship as a rookie, then spent nine seasons with the Giants and won another NFL title in 1956.
Considered an outstanding pass rusher long before the statistic for sacks became official in 1982, Robustelli missed just one game in his career and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1971.
