Minneapolis, MN - The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has granted the NFL's request for an expedited appeal in regards to the lockout.

The league's motion for a temporary stay of the order lifting the lockout was granted last Friday, and now a permanent ruling will be made earlier than expected, as the parties will offer oral arguments before the court on June 3.

The players had won a pair of victories last week when a U.S. District Court judge ordered the lockout to be lifted, then denied a stay of her ruling on Wednesday, opening the door for the NFL to seek an appeal.

The lockout, of course, was instituted after discussions about a new collective bargaining agreement broke down last month. The players dissolved their union and filed the injunction request to lift the lockout, as well as an antitrust lawsuit against the league.
