New York - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears will continue the NFL's regular-season foray overseas, as the two teams will square off at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

It will be the fifth straight year of regular-season NFL action in London. The previous four contests were played before sellout crowds.

The New York Giants notched a 13-10 win over the Miami Dolphins in the first game at Wembley in 2007. In 2008, the New Orleans Saints recorded a 37-32 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Tampa Bay made a previous appearance at Wembley Stadium in 2009, suffering a 35-7 drubbing at the hands of the New England Patriots. Last season saw the San Francisco 49ers tally a 24-16 victory over the Denver Broncos.

"Our past four games in London have demonstrated the tremendous passion for NFL football that exists in the UK," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We hope by staging another extraordinary game at Wembley that we can continue to grow our existing fan base and attract even more new fans."

Tampa Bay will serve as host of this year's event, which will which will begin at 1 p.m. (et) and will be televised by FOX.

Of course, plans are subject to change due to the currently unresolved NFL labor situation. If the issue remains unresolved by August 1, then the game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The Buccaneers, who will look to improve on their disappointing international series showing of 2009, went 10-6 last season and return a promising young roster.

"We are honored to be selected to participate in the NFL International Series for a second time," said Buccaneers co-chairman Bryan Glazer in statement. "We are looking forward to promoting Tampa Bays emerging young team on the world stage. We have the longest running fan club of any NFL team in the UK and look forward to seeing so many familiar faces from the Bucs UK fan club at the game."

Chicago, which reached the NFC Championship game last season, also has a history at Wembley. As reigning Super Bowl XX Champions, the Bears competed in a preseason game in London on August 3, 1986.

"To return to London to play an NFL game -- this is going to be fun," Bears chairman Michael McCaskey said in a statement. "I remember how enthusiastic the fans were in 1986 when we played in Wembley Stadium and defeated the Dallas Cowboys. London fans were so welcoming and blended their traditions of singing soccer songs with the NFL-style of presenting games.

"Of course the Chicago Bears are very pleased to have been named the 'Team of the Year' by UK fans following the 2010 season. So we are looking forward to facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in October and playing in person before our terrific fans in the UK and Europe."

The full 2011 NFL schedule will be announced Tuesday at 7 p.m. (et).
