NEW YORK - Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is set to leave prison in early June, concluding his sentence for firing off a gun in a night club a few months early.

Burress started serving a two-year prison term in September 2009 stemming from an accidental shooting at a Manhattan night club. Burress, who shot himself in the thigh with an unlicensed gun, is due to be released June 6.

The 33-year-old Burress will be free to sign with any team once he leaves prison, assuming there's no work stoppage in the NFL.

Burress, who caught the winning touchdown pass in the Super Bowl after the 2007 season, has 505 career receptions for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns, having played for the Steelers and Giants.
