Redskins release Carter, Dockery

ASHBURN, VA - The Washington Redskins have released veteran linebacker Andre Carter and offensive lineman Derrick Dockery.

Carter recorded 44 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 16 games -- five as a starter -- last season for the Redskins, his fifth with the team.

He has totaled 442 stops and 66 sacks during his ten-year career with the 'Skins and San Francisco 49ers over 149 games, including 133 starts.

Dockery played in five games last season, starting twice, and wound up losing his job to third-year guard Kory Lichtensteiger.

The Texas product has played in 117 games -- 111 as a starter -- during his eight-year career with Washington and Buffalo.
