JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran quarterback Luke McCown.

McCown, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, played in just one game for the Jaguars in 2010. The Louisiana Tech product suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second week of the season against San Diego.

Entering his eighth season in the NFL, McCown spent time with Cleveland and Tampa Bay before joining the Jaguars via trade from the Buccaneers in 2009.

A fourth-round draft pick of the Browns in 2004, McCown has thrown for 1,739 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions over 16 career games (seven starts).

The 29-year-old McCown will serve as a backup to starter David Garrard.
