ASHBURN, VA - Washington Redskins kick returner Brandon Banks is recovering from a stab wound he sustained outside a D.C. nightclub early Saturday morning.

Banks was reportedly trying to help break up a fight between his friend and a knife-wielding assailant when he was stabbed in his side. The surface wound reportedly required stitches and Banks continues to recover at a local hospital.

His friend reportedly sustained cuts to his face and body and was in intensive care at a D.C. area hospital.

This past season, his first in the NFL, Banks played in 13 games and caught two passes for 10 yards. He also averaged 25.1 yards on kickoff returns and scored on a 96-yard runback at Detroit on October 31. Banks also averaged 11.3 yards on 38 punt returns.
