Washington - Thursday's round of negotiations between the NFL and the players' union were cancelled.

The first day of the two-day session was held as scheduled on Wednesday, but the talks collapsed on Thursday with just three weeks to go before the collective bargaining agreement expires on March 3.

The two sides had also met this past Saturday in Dallas prior to the Super Bowl, creating optimism that the sides might be able to reach an agreement, but Thursday's five-hour meeting was called off with neither side giving a reason for the cancellation.

At issue between the two sides is how to spilt the roughly $9 billion in annual revenues, extending the season to 18 games and the rookie wage scale.
