TORONTO - Da Mayor is off to see Da Bears.

Mayor Rob Ford and his brother Doug, councillor for Ward 2, are headed to the Windy City this weekend for the NFC Championship game between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.

“I went online and spent a few hundred bucks,” Doug Ford said.

“I’m a huge Bears fan — I love them. And what a rivalry, the Bears and the Packers,” he said.

Football is in the Fords’ blood — Rob has coached high school in Toronto for years and runs a charitable foundation to fund teams.

Doug Ford still maintains a home in Chicago, near the family firm’s Deco Label and Tags factory, and plans on showing his younger brother the city’s redeveloped waterfront.

But the pair won’t be flying on Porter Airlines out of Billy Bishop Airport on Toronto Island, the councillor said.

“I’ve talked to (Porter owner Robert) Deluce about it already,” he said.

“Where I live is five minutes from (O’Hare airport) and the plant is five minutes from O’Hare,” Doug said. “Porter flies into Midway.”

Ford said he and the mayor are hoping to set up a meeting with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, but won’t be in town very long.

“(Arrival) will either be late Saturday night or early Sunday morning,” he said. “I think the flight (back) is seven o’clock in the morning on Monday. We’ll be back in the office by 8:30 or 9 a.m.”
