Will Falcons be Starks raving mad?

ATLANTA - James Starks?

Or John Starks?

For all Falcons middle linebacker Curtis Lofton knew, the guy who not so long ago was listed way down on the Green Bay Packers depth chart among running backs could have been John Starks, the former bad boy of the New York Knicks.

Until last Sunday, that is.

“I’d never heard of him (before that),” Lofton said.

Then came the game films of the Packers 21-16 wildcard round victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, a contest in which James Starks scampered for 123 yards.

“He’s a talented back,” Lofton said upon further review.

With Packers coach Mike McCarthy suggesting Starks might play an even bigger role this week, the former University of Buffalo running back admits he’s living a dream.

“I would love to have (lots of carries) but I’m grateful for whatever I can get,” Starks said.

Will the rags-to-riches story of John -- oops, make that James -- Starks continue?

The answer will come during the Packers-Falcons playoff game on Saturday night. Stay tuned.
