FORT WORTH, TX - Jason Garrett will reportedly remain the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys on a full-time basis.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has decided that Garrett has done enough since taking over for the fired Wade Phillips in November to have the interim tag taken away.

The paper said the only thing preventing Jones from making it official is the NFL's "Rooney Rule," which states that a minority candidate must be interviewed for any head coaching vacancy. Jones apparently has already targeted current Cowboys receivers coach Ray Sherman as that candidate.

The Cowboys beat Philadelphia, 14-13, in the season-finale on Sunday. Garrett was 5-3 after replacing Phillips.

"I would absolutely love to be this team's coach," Garrett said after Sunday's win.
