JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- David Garrard will have company on the Jacksonville sideline during Sunday's game against the Texans, as the Jaguars have ruled out running back Maurice Jones-Drew due to a knee injury.

Jones-Drew sat out last Sunday's loss to the Redskins because of the ailment and has not practiced in the last two weeks. He had missed just one game during his five-year career prior to sitting out last week.

The UCLA-product has amassed 1,324 yards and five touchdowns on the ground this year while also catching 34 balls for 317 yards and two more scores.

Earlier in the day, the Jaguars placed Garrard on injured reserve, one day after the QB had successful surgery to repair a tendon disruption and a ligament rupture to the third finger of his right hand.

Trent Edwards is expected to start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Texans, a game the Jaguars must win to have a shot at the AFC South title. Jacksonville (8-7) also needs Indianapolis (9-6) to lose to the Titans to secure the division.

Garrard finished an up-and-down season with 2,734 yards with 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

To fill his spot on the roster, Jacksonville signed linebacker Alvin Bowen from the practice squad.
