BALTIMORE - Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

The Sun reported Sunday evening that the Texas product was pulled over by Howard County police just after 4 a.m. (ET), when officers observed his vehicle swerving on U.S. Route 1 in a suburb south of Baltimore.

Kindle was cited for speeding, driving under the influence and failure to observe traffic control devices. He was later released on $10,000 bond, according to the paper.

The Ravens' 2010 second-round draft pick told the Sun late Sunday that he was driving home with friends, one of whom needed to catch an early flight. He had also already apologized to the team, which won 20-10 at Cleveland earlier Sunday.

The 23-year-old has been forced to sit out for the whole season after suffering injuries to his head when he apparently fell down two flights of stairs at a private residence in Austin, Texas in July, shortly before the start of training camp.

He has been on the non-football injury list since then, and has been taking physical therapy at the Ravens' training facility in Owings Mills. However, his football future is still in doubt.
