GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers returned to practice Wednesday in preparation for Green Bay's must-win game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

"He looked great, he had a good practice," Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy said. "I thought he threw the ball very well. I thought he had a very good Wednesday practice."

Rodgers sat out last week's loss to the Patriots after suffering his second concussion of the season in a Week 14 game against the Lions. It was the first game the quarterback missed since taking the reins from Brett Favre at the beginning of the 2008 season.

Matt Flynn, in his first NFL start, had the Packers driving for the game- winning touchdown in New England, but the comeback fell just short in a 31-27 decision.

The loss dropped Green Bay to 8-6 on the year, one game behind the Giants with two to play.

"He (Rodgers) is going to have to play big Sunday for us to be successful," said McCarthy.

Through the first 13 games, Rodgers ranks fourth in the NFL in quarterback rating (98.5), throwing for 3,289 yards with 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

McCarthy added that Rodgers will be wearing a different helmet than he had earlier in the season while suffering the concussions.
