EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Steve Smith will not play again this season for the New York Giants.
The club announced Wednesday that the wide receiver suffered a knee injury during Monday night's 21-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Detroit that will require season-ending surgery.
The contest was Smith's first after missing the previous four with a partially-torn pectoral muscle.
Smith caught 48 passes for 529 yards and three touchdowns this year.
The Giants also placed linebacker Clint Sintim (knee) on injured reserve and re-signed defensive end Alex Hall.
