ORCHARD PARK, NY - The Buffalo Bills on Tuesday placed wide receiver Lee Evans on injured reserve with a severe ankle injury.
Evans sustained the injury during Sunday's win over the Browns. It has been a disappointing season for Evans this year, with career lows in catches (37) and receiving yards (578). The Wisconsin product also caught four TD passes this season.
Originally selected 13th overall by the Bills in the 2004 draft, Evans will see a pair of streaks come to an end on Sunday. He had appeared in 109 consecutive games and had started 71 straight games dating back to the 2006 season.
Also on Tuesday, Buffalo placed tight end Shawn Nelson on the reserve non- football injury list.
A four-game suspension and severe migraines limited Nelson to five games this season. The second-year pro out of Southern Mississippi caught three passes for 25 yards.
To fill the roster spots, the Bills signed guard Colin Brown and guard/tackle Erik Pears. The team signed wide receiver Bobby Williams to the practice squad and released offensive lineman Marc Dile.
