CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers guard Duke Robinson was suspended by the NFL on Friday for the final four games of this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Robinson, who is currently on injured reserve with a torn knee ligament, will be able to serve the suspension despite already being out for the remainder of this season.

The 24-year-old Robinson, a fifth-round draft pick in 2009, came into this year's training camp overweight and lost the starting job to Mackenzy Bernadeau. He was then put on IR before the season began.
