NFL issues several fines for hits

NEW YORK -- The NFL issued five fines on Friday to Philadelphia's Trent Cole, Arizona's Alan Branch, Detroit's Cliff Avril and Buffalo's Quinton Ganther and Andy Levitre.

Cole was fined the most out of the group, a $20,000 deduction for a hit he placed on Houston quarterback Matt Schaub.

Branch owes $10,000 after being called for roughing the passer against St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford, and Avril was fined $15,000 for hitting Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler.

Ganther was fined $5,000 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, and Levitre was docked $7,500 for a late hit in the same contest.
