ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos rookie cornerback Perrish Cox was arrested Thursday on charges of sexual assault.

The Denver Post reported Friday morning the 23-year-old Cox was arrested by the Lone Tree police department, which had finalized a lengthy investigation of a sexual assault charge that allegedly took place on October 28.

Broncos interim coach Eric Studesville said he was made aware of the incident on Friday morning and stated that the team would cooperate with authorities while it gathered all information regarding the case.

"We're aware of the reports regarding an incident with Perrish Cox," Studesville said Friday. "We're in the process of reviewing all the facts and gathering all the information we can related to this. It's a situation we take very, very seriously within the organization. We're going to cooperate fully in the whole process of whatever needs to take place as we gather this information."

According to the paper, the district attorney's office reviewed the findings and an arrest warrant was issued. Cox was taken to Douglas County Jail without incident and held on bond.

The judge for the case granted Cox his request to join the team for away games, which includes this Sunday's contest at Arizona.

"We're going to make the best organizational decision for us," Studesville added. "[We will] look at all the facts, consider everything, [including] the policies that we have set forth within the organization before we make any determination on playing status, anything of that nature."

The Broncos selected the Oklahoma State product in the fifth round of the 2010 draft. He has started the last eight games for the club and has totaled 45 tackles and one interception during the year.
