ARLINGTON, Tex. -- The Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday placed rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant on injured reserve, officially ending his season.

Bryant, 22, underwent successful surgery on Monday to repair a fractured right fibula that he suffered while returning a kickoff in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 38-35 overtime victory at Indianapolis.

The 24th-overall pick in the 2010 draft, Bryant caught 45 passes for 561 yards and six touchdowns this season. He also returned two punts for scores.

In a corresponding move the Cowboys signed linebacker Kenwin Cummings from the New York Jets practice squad. Cummings played in three games for New York this season and was in his third season as a member of the Jets practice squad.
