MIAMI -- Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a hand injury.

The Miami Herald reported the procedure was performed on Tuesday, and quoted a source as saying Hartline suffered the injury during Miami's 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns last Sunday.

The Dolphins will wait until the doctor who performed the surgery evaluated how Hartline responds to the effects before making a decision on whether or not to shut him down for the season, according to the paper.

Hartline, a second-year pro out of Ohio State, has posted 43 receptions for 615 yards and one touchdown in 12 games this season.
