EDEN PRARIE, MN - Minnesota Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier updated the status of Brett Favre on Monday and expects the veteran quarterback to play Sunday against the New York Giants if he's healthy.

Favre, starting his 297th consecutive regular-season game, suffered an SC sprain to his throwing shoulder on his first pass attempt Sunday against the Buffalo Bills when he was hit from behind by linebacker Arthur Moats.

Frazier acknowledged rest will be key for Favre, who will be considered day- to-day as the week goes on.

"They will do some exercises with him to help him as well," Frazier said. "It's not something that can surgically be attended to. It's just a matter of rest and the rehab they will put him through."

Frazier added: "If the doctors say he is fine and he is functional and not at risk and Brett feels good about it, it won't be a hard decision (to let him start)."

Tarvaris Jackson replaced Favre and threw for 187 yards on 15-of-22 completions with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
