SANTA CLARA, CA - The San Francisco 49ers and kicker Jeff Reed have agreed on a one-year contract.

Reed was released by the Steelers earlier this season after joining the team in 2002 and replaces Shane Andrus, who made only 2-of-4 field goal attempts in his two weeks with San Francisco.

49ers starting kicker Joe Nedney didn't play against the Cardinals last week because he didn't feel 100 percent in a pre-game warmup.

Reed was franchised by the Steelers and signed a one-year tender for 2010 after making 27 of 31 field goal attempts last season. He has struggled this season, however, missing seven of his 22 field goal attempts.
