Panthers' Martin fined $40K

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers safety Sherron Martin was fined $40,000 for an illegal hit in Sunday's loss against Cleveland.

The Charlotte Observe is reporting that Martin was fined for a helmet-to- helmet on tight end Evan Moore. It is the second fine of the season for Martin as he received a $5,000 in Week 1 for a hit on Giants tight end Kevin Boss, resulting in a concussion for Boss.

In other team news, linebacker James Anderson (concussion), cornerback Captain Munnerlyn (shoulder), offensive linemen Geoff Schwartz (back) and Travelle Wharton (toe) and running back Mike Goodson (personal) all missed practice.

Cornerback Chris Gamble (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice.
