PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid updated the status of Ellis Hobbs on Monday and didn't think the cornerback would be able to play this coming Sunday.

Reid said an MRI revealed Hobbs suffered a disc injury in his neck.

Hobbs was involved in a helmet-to-helmet hit with Giants defensive end Dave Tollefson when he returned the opening kickoff of the second half in Sunday night's 27-17 win over New York. He was carted off the field.

Hobbs' 2009 season ended early because of a similar injury.

Reid added that cornerback Asante Samuel left Sunday's victory with a knee strain, but Reid thinks he'll be available for the next game.

The Eagles visit the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Both teams have 7-3 records.
