NEWARK, NJ - New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith will not play Sunday night in Philadelphia and is likely to miss the following week's game against Jacksonville as well while recovering from a partially-torn pectoral muscle.

The Star-Ledger reported Wednesday that Smith, who did not practice with the team, has ruled himself out for the crucial NFC East clash against the Eagles, quoting the wideout as saying his recovery is coming along slowly.

Smith missed last Sunday's 33-20 setback to the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a tear to his pectoral muscle in practice last Thursday.

A fourth-year pro out of USC, Smith has played in eight games this season and posted 47 receptions, 517 yards and three touchdowns.
