ORCHARD PARK, NY - Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller has been ruled out for this Sunday's game at Cincinnati because of a hamstring injury.

Spiller was hurt on a 29-yard punt return during the second quarter of last Sunday's game against the Lions, a 14-12 win that was Chan Gailey's first victory in nine games as Bills head coach.

"It's a slow process. I'm taking it day to day and getting as much treatment as I can to get back," said Spiller. "The main thing with this type of injury is you have to make sure it is 100 percent before you get back out there and further damage it. You have to look at the long haul, I'd rather miss one game than the rest of the season."

Spiller, the ninth overall pick in the 2010 draft, was has carried 41 times for 164 yards and caught 18 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. He has also returned 30 kickoffs for 763 yards and a score.

Linebacker Shawne Merriman has also been ruled out for the game because of a lingering calf injury. He has not played since joining the Bills November 3.
