HOUSTON - Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub spent Tuesday night in the hospital because of issues with a bursa sac in his knee but is likely to start Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak was optimistic Wednesday that Schaub would be able to recover in time for the game at New York, saying his signal-caller simply needed rest and further treatment on the knee.

Schaub played the entire game last Sunday against the Jaguars, throwing for 314 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-24 loss, which dropped Houston to the bottom of the AFC South with a 4-5 record.

The 29-year-old has passed for 2,320 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions over the first nine games of the year. His quarterback rating of 91.5 is well below his Pro Bowl campaign of a year ago (98.6).

The other quarterbacks on Houston's roster are Matt Leinart and Dan Orlovsky.
