CHARLOTTE - Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said Monday that rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion during this past Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Fox said he was unsure when it occurred, but said it may have happened on the final play of the game while Clausen tried to score on a quarterback sneak. Video appeared to show him take a shot to the head from Tampa Bay's Aqib Talib during the play.

"It was something that came on as the postgame wore on," Fox said Monday. "He'll be day-to-day."

The Panthers are set to host Baltimore on Sunday.

Clausen was back as the starter against the Buccaneers after Matt Moore was lost for the season because of a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. The second-round pick from Notre Dame, who started three games earlier this year, completed 16-of-29 passes for 191 yards in the 31-16 loss against the Buccaneers.

If Clausen is not cleared to play, rookie Tony Pike could get his first start against the Ravens. The sixth-round pick from Cincinnati saw his first NFL action two weeks ago in a 34-3 loss to New Orleans and completed 6-of-12 throws for 47 yards.

Fox said wide receiver Brandon LaFell also sustained a concussion against Tampa Bay and would be evaluated as the week goes along. LaFell had three catches for 36 yards on Sunday.
