EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith is being listed as day-to-day and will miss Sunday's game against the Cowboys after suffering a partial tear to his pectoral muscle in practice on Thursday.

"It's a partial pec [tear] and he just has to rehab, but whatever the basis of it is, he has to go through a process of healing, so I'm not sure exactly how long [he will be out]," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said in a post-practice press conference on Friday.

Coughlin also said the injury will not require surgery.

Smith has played in eight games this season and is the second leading wide receiver for the Giants with 47 receptions, 517 yards and three touchdowns. He's amassed more than 100 yards in two games so far this year.
