HOUSTON - The Houston Texans claimed cornerback Jason Allen off waivers from the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
Allen, who was placed on waivers by the Dolphins on Wednesday, had compiled 32 tackles and three interceptions in seven games with Miami this season.
The former first-round pick (16th overall) of the Dolphins in 2006 out of Tennessee, Allen brings 172 tackles and eight interceptions over 71 contests to the Texans secondary.
In addition, the Texans placed safety Dominique Barber on injured reserve. Barber ends his third NFL season with just six tackles in eight games.
Houston also signed center Cody Wallace to the practice squad and released center Brett Helms from the practice squad.
