PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed offensive tackle Max Starks on injured reserve because of a neck injury.

Starks was hurt during this past Monday's game against Cincinnati and will need surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery for the 2011 season.

The seven-year veteran from Florida has started seven games this year, missing the September 19 contest against Tennessee because of an ankle injury. He has started 68 of the 95 games he has played since the Steelers selected him in the third round of the 2004 draft.

Offensive tackle Chris Scott was activated off the physically unable to perform list to fill the vacant roster spot. Scott, a fifth-round pick out of Tennessee last April, missed all of training camp and the first eight games of the season because of an injured foot he sustained during summer workouts.
