ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson underwent finger surgery on Monday and his status for Sunday's game against Carolina is uncertain, head coach Steve Spagnuolo said at a press conference.

Jackson, who injured the ring finger on his left hand during Sunday's 18-17 loss at Tampa Bay, had a procedure done Monday morning. Spagnuolo didn't have any particulars on the surgery other than to say the finger was fractured and he didn't know when the injury occurred.

It was a bittersweet game for Jackson as he rushed for 110 yards on 22 carries and in the process passed Hall-of-Famer Eric Dickerson (7,245) as the top rusher on the Rams' all-time list.

The Rams also took a hit to the secondary, as starting left cornerback Ron Bartell suffered a quad contusion and safety James Butler has a shoulder injury. Bartell is considered day-to-day, while Butler he's not expected to play against the Panthers, Spagnuolo said.
