DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Davone Bess to a contract extension.

Terms were not disclosed, but the NFL Network has reported it to be a three-year deal worth $9 million.

Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano mentioned Bess' new deal during his press briefing on Monday.

"It's great for a lot of reasons," Sparano stated. "Here's a great example of me being able to point to and saying there's a guy right there, an undrafted free agent, a guy we rewarded; he deserves it."

Bess is Miami's second-leading receiver this season with 26 catches for 282 yards and two touchdowns. He has also returned five punts for a 12.8-yard average.

The 25-year-old Hawaii product is in his third season with the Dolphins. He caught 54 passes for 554 yards and a score in his rookie year and last season led the Dolphins with 76 catches for 758 yards.
