TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup running back Kareem Huggins will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the third quarter of Sunday's 31-6 loss to New Orleans, head coach Raheem Morris said on Monday.

The 24-year-old has appeared in six games over the last two seasons with the Bucs and has rushed for 11 yards on four handles. He also has one catch for seven yards.

Rookie LeGarrette Blount and second-year pro Kregg Lumpkin are expected to provide running back depth behind starter Carnell Williams.

Tampa Bay's running game has struggled in the early going this season, averaging just over 91 yards per game, which ranks 27th in the league.
