The New York Giants have signed kicker Shayne Graham as a potential replacement for Lawrence Tynes, who is bothered by an ankle injury.

Tynes, who has missed three of his eight field goal tries this year, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit. The right-footed kicker has a sprained left ankle.

Graham spent the previous eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and signed with Baltimore in June, but lost a preseason battle with Billy Cundiff and was cut by the Ravens.

The 32-year-old veteran was a 2005 Pro Bowl selection and has connected on 85.2 percent of his field goal attempts. Last year, he made 23-of-28 tries and all but one of his 29 extra-point attempts.

New York opened a roster spot by placing rookie wide receiver Victor Cruz on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Cruz made a name for himself during the preseason with three touchdown catches in a game against the Jets.
