Cutler back at practice

No doubt about it, Jay Cutler can take a beating. In one of the more amazing developments just four weeks into the season was what happened in the Bears-Giants game where Chicago gave up an NFL-record nine sacks in the first half.

Poor Cutler almost got killed in the game and suffered a concussion which put his status for Sunday's game at Carolina up in the air.

On Wednesday, though, Cutler returned to practice which means he's either crazy or is eligible to play against the Panthers -- or both.

Once a player has been diagnosed with a concussion, he can't practice or play until cleared by doctors so you have to assume Cutler is good to go.

But nine sacks. You have to wonder why he's rushing back?

It is an embarrassment for the Bears offensive line also shows that Cutler has to get quicker reads and release the ball a lot sooner than he has this season.

Perhaps it's all part of adjusting to the new offensive scheme brought in by Mike Martz.

But no quarterback can expect to take a beating like the one Cutler endured and keep coming back.

One way or the other, the Bears have to fix things, and quick.
