Orchard Park, NY - The Seattle Seahawks have acquired running back Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for undisclosed draft picks on Tuesday.
Multiple media outlets reported earlier in the day that the deal could include at least a fourth-round selection in 2011.
"Marshawn has worked hard and played hard for us this season and we certainly appreciate his efforts," said Bills general manager Buddy Nix. "We are constantly evaluating our personnel and feel that this is a good move for our team's future."
The 24-year-old native of Oakland rushed for just eight yards on four carries last Sunday in a 38-14 loss to the Jets. He's been limited to 164 yards on 37 carries in four games this year, with only one reception for seven yards for the 0-4 Bills.
It will be a change of scenery for Lynch, given that he stated in the offseason that he was looking for a fresh start with another team. Seattle is 2-2 heading into a bye week after a loss at St. Louis this past Sunday.
Since breaking in with Buffalo out of California in 2007, Lynch has compiled 2,765 yards and 17 touchdowns on 687 carries, with 670 receiving yards and one score on 94 catches.
