FOXBORO, Mass. -- The New England Patriots signed running back Thomas Clayton on Thursday.

Terms of the contract were not released.

Clayton, who was signed off Cleveland's practice squad, could provide immediate help to the Patriots' backfield as Fred Taylor is questionable for Monday's game at Miami with a toe injury.

New England also lost Kevin Faulk for the year after suffering a torn ACL in a Week 2 loss to the New York Jets and Laurence Maroney was traded to Denver on September 14.

To clear a roster spot, the Patriots released offensive lineman Quinn Ojinnaka.
