BOSTON -- The New England Patriots have reportedly lost running back Kevin Faulk for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.

The report comes from the Boston Globe, which was citing a league source.

The 34-year-old Faulk suffered the injury after being pushed out of bounds by New York Jets defensive back Drew Coleman during the fourth quarter of New England's 28-14 defeat on Sunday.

Faulk's injury leaves the Patriots thin at the position after last week's trade of Lawrence Maroney to Denver.

The 12-year-pro out of LSU, who has carved out a niche as one of the top receiving backs in the league, caught six passes for 62 yards and carried eight times for 45 yards in the first two games of the 2010 season.

Faulk has made 424 receptions for 3,667 yards and 15 touchdowns and run for 3,550 yards and 16 scores during his career, which has all been spent with the Pats.
